c_p_satyajitC.P.Satyajit is the son of the Dhananjayans who are among the best known dancers of India. Satyajit showed a love for the stage at an early age. Since his arrangetram (ascent to the stage) in 1988, Satyajit has performed Bharathanatyam all over India and abroad including performing in the dance drama Jungle book in London (1989), on tour in the U.S. (1990), Singapore (1991), and the Cuttack dance festival organized by the Sangeeth Natak Akademi. He was a special invitee of Indo-Japan Friendship Association for participating in the 40th anniversary celebration in Japan. He was in the International Dance Alliance tour of US (1992), participated in a modern dance workshop organized by Sangeeth Natak Akademi in New Delhi and in a choreographic project with a classical ballet dancer and a Flamenco dancer in a joint production in Spain (1995). Among the awards he has received are: the Yuva Kala Bharathi of Bharath Kalachar., Best dancer award of Music academy, Krishna Gana Sabha, and a special merit certificate from the President of India.  Satyajit is also a well-known photographer. and a student of music and is a vocalist, Carnatic (South Indian classical) violinist and percussionist.

Satyajit has received accolades for his choreography of Mounakkural, a dance drama on women commissioned by the British Council to commemorate the UN women’s conference in Beijing. The same was revisited recently and received many accolades for its contemporary political and artistic relevance.
